Facilities
At full capacity, Loon Lake Research & Education can accommodate up to 180 individuals. The facilities that are listed in this section are the facilities that we feel are best suited for youth retreats. If you require a complete list of our accommodations, please contact the group reservations coordinator.
Student Centre
Sleeps up to 55 shared accommodations.
Renovated in 2005, the Student Centre offers the ultimate multi-purpose facility including a gymnasium. There are 3 large bedrooms in the north wing, and 4 large bedrooms in the south wing. Each bedroom is outfitted with 4 sets of Douglas-fir bunk beds and has a great view of the lake. In the warmer months, your guests will love the large dock that creates the perfectly contained swimming area.
Great Room
Just one more great room for kids to meet with friends, have a game of checkers, read a book or catch up on studies. This room features a rock fireplace, comfortable leather couches, bookcases and work spaces. It's the hub of the Student Centre and the ultimate indoor retreat space.
Gymnasium
It doesn't matter where you hang out at Loon Lake, you can't escape the physical activity. This indoor play space is only a hop, skip and a jump away from a cool dip in the lake. If your group plans to use the gym, please bring your required sporting equipment (i.e. plastic hockey sticks, basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, etc). If more than one group is staying at Loon Lake at the same time, the group staying in the Student Centre has use of the gymnasium.
Thunder Inn
Sleeps 6 - 2 bedrooms each with 3 beds.
This updated and modernized cabin is complete with its own bathroom facilities.
Dining Hall
For many of the youth that come to Loon Lake the Dining Hall is the heart of the experience. Mealtime allows the kids to gather together and share their excitement and experiences.
The dining hall is a two minute walk from the camps accommodations and can seat to 100 students in the winter months and in the summer months an additional 50 can be seated on the outside deck.
The dining hall can be configured for a variety of uses too. If it's raining or snowing, some of the outdoor activities can be moved indoors so nobody has to miss out on the fun.
Our professionally-equipped kitchen and trained staff offer healthy, nutritious meals throughout the day. There are menu options for you to choose from, or you can let our superior kitchen staff plan great meals for you. Just let us know, prior to your arrival, how many people are in your group and what time you'd like to eat and you'll be very happy with the results. If there is more than one group staying at camp, groups may be required to share the dining hall with other guests. If your group requires privacy, please let us know ahead of time and we will try our best to accommodate your needs. All meals are served buffet style and include coffee, tea, hot chocolate a selection of juices and water as well as dessert with both dinner and lunch
